What not to plant: High-maintenance plants you'll regret buying

OPINION: You'll will never see me advocating enthusiastically for low-maintenance gardening. It is not our style. But I do think some plants need to know their place in life.

Some clamour for way more attention than they deserve and are unjustifiably high maintenance.

First to go at our garden in Tikorangi, north Taranaki, were almost all the plants that require chemical intervention (in the form of spraying) to keep them looking good – or even alive.
