Budgeting: How much scrimping is too much if you want to save for your first home?

If you're trying to save a house deposit, there are probably countless people in your life ready to regale you with stories of amazing feats of savings.

Have you heard the one about the guy who lived on two-minute noodles for a year so he could buy an apartment? Or the person who managed to buy a unit just by giving up coffee?

On a more serious note, Yolanda O'Neil and Kyle Brown shared their story about giving up wi-fi, a clothes dryer, Sky TV, cafe visits and even a wedding, to buy their first home.

Going without so you can amass a deposit more quickly sounds appealing.  But how?
