OPINION: It was 2am in Phnom Penh, Cambodia – the wild west of Asia – when someone burst into my locked 'hotel' room, awakening me from my slumber. I screamed my lungs out until they left, wedged a chair under the doorknob, and decided to cancel the rest of my stay. The dead cockroaches and suspicious stains on the walls probably should have raised a red flag but I couldn't resist the rock-bottom price.
