A new app wants to help young people beat loan sharks at their own game.
The Commission for Financial Capability has developed a game app called Debt Empire, in which players are loan sharks on a quest to rip off as many people as possible.
The commission said it had turned to the tactic after hearing stories from young people who had lost money to loan sharks. Some did not even know they had any rights when it came to dealing with lenders.
Debt Empire aims to show people the ways that real-life loan sharks can make money out of borrowers and deliver debt lessons "almost by stealth".
