Actor Laurel Devenie has appeared on our screens and theatre stages in roles such as nurse Kate Nathan on Shortland Street and Sigourney Weaver's body double in Avatar.
Devenie, who lives in a home that she says resembles "the set of a 1950s Californian Bungalow movie" with her partner, his daughters and their two pets, loves spontaneous gatherings where everyone "makes do" and the evening turns into "a lovely rambling get together."
"I think last-minute spur-of-the-moment gatherings suit me best – when I don't have time to stress about what a canape is or how to make pesto or something," she said.
"Then I'm always kind of distracted – chatting to someone while chucking something in the blender or trying to make a pizza and I don't really have time to freak out about my lack of domestic goddess-ness."
