Garden of the week: A Kapiti Coast garden that is ringed by totara

From the road, there are hints that this is no ordinary garden. At first you notice the stone walls and large totara, then the striking entrance gates that mimic the shape of their branches. Drive in, and Janet and Mike Askew's Te Horo, Kapiti Coast, home sits in a magical clearing, surrounded by a forest of more than 100 majestic totara. If the site weren't special enough, the owners have nurtured a garden that enhances the drama of the setting.
