Recipe: Sam Mannering's super-simple canapes

I worry that the very mention of the word "canape" hints at the promise of patronising events with bad bubbly and complicated-looking things in vol-au-vents. I do my best to counter that by being as simple as possible. This recipe may seem too easy, but, at this time of year, I don't think that's a bad thing. Asparagus halves wrapped in prosciutto and grilled off. Oysters in the half-shell with lemon. Oatcakes with a bit of blue cheese and pear. Thin strips of rare cold roast beef rolled up with a bit of horseradish and herb. Cubes of roast pork belly with a dollop of hoi-sin. It needn't be complicated.
