Each year, since 1998 -- before that, it was a biennial event -- tens of thousands of people descend on Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show, a mega-meeting of gadget-makers from across the world.
According to show organisers, 3600 major and minor companies have booths, and the really big-name manufacturers put on splashy multi-media events.
All up, about 150,000 people attend. It's not just the traditional electronics people; now all the big automakers use CES as a place to show off their latest efforts, like smart features and self-driving technology.
