House of the week: Summer and Christmas in the Queen Charlotte Sound

The Greenslade family's secluded bach, clinging to a cliff, stands sentry over a tiny unnamed bay in Queen Charlotte Sound. Its views of turquoise sea, jutting coves and regenerating bush could be straight from a Tourism New Zealand brochure. From the deck you can look out over Karaka Point with its conservation land and the remains of a Maori pa, or over Sunshine Bay with its smattering of holiday homes.
