Don't post about it on social media, the Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ) has warned, because you don't know who may be watching.
Burglaries cost $400,000 per day in the holiday season, ICNZ said.
"There is traditionally a steep rise in burglary-related claims in the December to January period, with the last 21-day festive season claims costing $414,000 per day," said ICNZ chief executive Tim Grafton.
