At the end of a long oak-lined drive, two excited dogs come running over to meet me as I arrive at a beautiful earth-block country home in Ohoka. Leading the way is an elegant English pointer, followed by a little border terrier. After shyly escorting me to the front door, they politely retire, leaving homeowner Geoff Mehrtens to make the introductions.
