It can be a vicious game, croquet. Warfare with mallets. Royce and Trudi McGlashen's sprawling garden at the foothills of the Barnicoat Range near Nelson, terminates in a croquet lawn. Yet you can't imagine anything too fierce happening here. The McGlashens take turns to win, according to Trudi. And they're as likely to wander down of an evening to drink wine and take in the dusk views, as to bash balls.
