Lawrenson Group founder taught valuable money lessons as a child

Lawrenson Group founder and chief executive John Lawrenson, moved to Hamilton from Dunedin ten years and Initially opened a few small bars there, starting with Furnace in June 2007.
Three years later he formed the Lawrenson Group with shareholders to create a central ownership and management structure to control the nine bars they owned at the time.
Today, the hospitality mogul owns 17 establishments -  all but one are 100 per cent owned by the same entity.
"I must admit that ten years ago when I took a bartending job at The Bank Bar and Brasserie I did not think that I would one day own one of the largest bar and restaurant groups in the country," he said.
