Design Space: Daniella Norling's rare creatures

Every week we ask a Kiwi interior experts to tell us what they're loving now and how to use it. This week it's Auckland interior designer Daniella Norling

As an interior designer, I am drawn to individuals who unapologetically infuse their furniture designs with their own character and eccentricity while maintaining relevance. Such craftsmen are as rare as unicorns but fortunately do exist.

Iris Apfel, Tony Duquette and Carlo Mollino are all icons of mine for their irreverent sense of style. Sadly, Mollino and Duquette are now designing for Jesus on a permanent contract while Iris, at 95, is working out her notice. So the day James Salmond strode into my design studio, looking every inch the modern girl's Mr Darcy in his knee high black leather spats, breeches and riding jacket, I knew it was my lucky day.
