Artist Annie Hayward and her husband James were scouting for a warehouse to covert when they spotted an old Masonic Lodge in Wellington's Eastbourne. After clearing the building of hundreds of dead rats, they got stuck in. James, who did much of the carpentry and joinery on the building, worked so hard he suffered a heart attack.
