For those who saw Kim Rutter and David Roche's Christchurch house demolished after the earthquakes, it was a surprise to see the same house reappear two years later. But the couple, aficionados of mid-century modern style, so loved their 1957 abode that they were never tempted to replace it with a 21st century edifice.
